What I Like About You was an American television show based on two sisters living together in New York City. What I Like About You characters made the show a runaway hit because the audience could relate to at least one character.
The show's main characters are Val and Holly Tyler. Val is an organized, hard-working, and at time compulsive women. She finally has the perfect job, in public relations; the perfect apartment, in New York City; and a great boyfriend. Val's world gets thrown for a loop when her younger, teenage sister, Holly, comes to live with her while their dad moves to Japan for work. Val's life changes rapidly over the four seasons. She eventually leaves her public relations job and starts her own business with her co-worker Lauren. Val's love life changes over the seasons as well. In the season finale, she ends up getting married in an unexpected twist.
Holly Tyler is a spunky, unpredictable teenager. In the first season, Holly seems to cause a lot of problems and issues for Val. As the show progresses, we get to watch Holly grow up and mature into a young lady. Holly is not free from troubles in love throughout the seasons as she struggles with her own love triangle. In the end, Holly ends up with the one she calls the love of her life.
What I Like About You characters would not be complete without sidekicks. Both Val and Holly have a best friend who acts as their partner in crime and at times are more problems than they are help.
Lauren Jones begins Season one as one of Val's co-workers. Her character is quirky and not always so bright. In the first season, she is Val's rival for a promation at the public relations company. In later seasons, they become best friends and start their own business together.
Gary Thorpe and Tina Haven are both best friends to Holly. Gary is in all four seasons and Tina joins the cast in the second season. Both Gary and Tina help Holly get into plenty of trouble, but they also help her out of it. Gary and Tina can't stand each other for most of the series, but end up together in the end.
Vince and Henry were the subjects of Holly's love triangle. Henry was Holly's first boyfriend, but she struggled with feelings for Vince throughout most of the series. Although, Holly dated a few other guys in between, she does end up with the one she loves in the end.
What I Like About You characters are all unique and special and their interactions kept us coming back each week.
