The American television show, What I Like About You, lasted just four seasons. However, it was full of fun, humor, and some little known trivia facts. The show also featured a couple who would go on to star in their own series.
What I Like About You stars Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth as sisters living together in New York City. Jennie Garth started her acting career as Kelly Taylor on 90210, and the show is referenced quite a few times throughout many episodes of What I Like About You. Her co-stars Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, and even Luke Perry each appeared in an episode. Ian Ziering appeared in one episode in the first season and Luke Perry and Jason Priestley each appeared more than once. Luke Perry played a plumber who Val developed a crush on. He was in three episodes. Jason Priestley appeared in two episodes. In one episode, he mentions to Val that she looks familiar and he believes they may have gone to school together. He also asks her is she was friends with his sister. All these things were true on 90210, but not on What I Like About What I Like About You.
Luke Perry went to high school with Val and in one episode they flash back to the high school days. Luke Perry's character tells Val he is dating Brenda but she is in Paris. During the flashback, you can hear music similar to the 90210 theme.
Jennie Garth was pregnant with her second child during the first season of What I Like About You. During the middle of the season, she was shot standing behind things, like a couch, or sitting down with her lap covered.
The executive producer, Dan Schneider, personally picked Amanda Bynes for the role of Holly. They had worked together on her Nickelodeon shows All That and The Amanda Show. They also worked together on the movie Big, Fat Liar, which Bynes co-starred in.
Even though Lauren and Vince are main characters throughout the entire series, they are the only characters who do not have last names. Lauren appeared in the first season as Val's co-worker, but earned a much bigger part for the remaining three seasons. Vince shows up in season two and is one of Holly's main love interests until the season finale.
Jennie Garth and Amanda Bynes share a birthday 14 years apart, April 3rd. They are the ones who made the show a must see for fans everywhere.
