What is Meteorite Wine? Wine collectors around the world might be curious with these type of wine. These is wine from Chile is the world’s leading wine production. These wines are fermented with native stone meteorite! How does it feel?

This is the idea of Ian Hutcheon, wine makers as well as astronomers. He combines both expertise and create the world’s first meteorite wine named ‘Meteorito’.

The material he learned from his own vineyards in Cachapoal Valley, Chile, in 2010. Wine is then fermented for 25 days before undergoing a process of malolactic fermentation for a year. This is where the meteorite 4.5 billion years old entered. After a wine, Cabernet Sauvignon is mixed into it.

The meteorite is borrowed from an American collector. Object space is said to originate from asteroids located between Mars and Jupiter. About 6,000 years ago, a meteorite of this size is 3 inches fell in the Atacama Desert, northern Chile.

To The Drinks Business, Ian tells the unique idea of making the red wine. “I want to give chance to everyone to come in contact with outer space objects. When you drink this wine, you drink the elements that have been around since the birth of the solar system, “said Ian.

Ian produces 10.000 liters of wine a meteorite. Unfortunately, this wine is only available at his observatory, the Centro Astronomico Tagua Tagua. Nevertheless, he plans to export a rare blend of wine.

Meteorito not the only alcoholic beverage relating to outer space. In 2008, a beer company launched a beer that can be enjoyed safely by the astronauts. Earlier, Japan’s Sapporo Brewery beer has also been made with ingredients grown in space.

If we’re talking about wine, then the word France would be appear in our thought. Those fine wine with numerous of price are identifying France wine.

But price sometimes became problem, why not try fine wine with lesser price? Its Chile winery. Lapostolle is wine example from Chile, cheap that doesn’t come bad quality.

Lapostolle have two world class wine which are most wanted. One of them is Clos Apalta which have complex and intense aroma. Wine Spectator (wine review magazine) have claim or approve Lapostolle to be number one wine in 2005.

If Cile wine really do have quality, but why these wine could be way more cheap then any other wine of countries? Well, actually there are two factor that could affected on the price. The first one is the price of the farm lands, and secondly is labor.

Specifically in Chile, these two factor are comes in cheap, which made the production cost lesser and of course its free from filoxera that often struck winery farm. Filoxera is some disease that could made crop failure.

Another advantages that have by Chile is the location that crossing with drastic temperature changes. In the East Andes mountain, while in the west Pacific ocean. In the north crossing with sand dessert, and south with cold glacier.

For the curious, you can try a white wine with the kind of wine Lapostolle Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc had a sense that little “smoky” and fruity which come from the wine aging process.

For red wine lovers, try the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot Cassa. Characteristic of red wine is a bit Sepat taste on the tongue.

Cabernet Sauvignon felt more strongly with the more densely concentrated. While Cassa Merlot has concentrated its lighter and feels a little bit of pepper aroma. Let the full, enjoy a white wine with white meat such as salmon or chicken. For red wine, can be paired with a variety of your favorite red meat.
